  • Overview

    Provide application product support of internet-based Applications (Java primarily) through analysis, design, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, automation, and delivery of viable support-based solutions.  Researches alternative technical solutions for changing business needs.


    • Deliver World Class Support for Web / Java Applications and their infrastructure
    • Resolve internet architectural and operational problems impacting infrastructure, product availability and general performance globally.
    • May assume lead and total accountability for ongoing regional projects as assigned; including responsibility for planning, resource utilization and implementation.
    • Implement, manage and support internet applications and components while leveraging current standards and best practices.
    • Perform problem diagnosis; troubleshooting; performance tuning; capacity planning and configuration management for Internet based Applications and components.
    • Assure system stability and future compatibility by managing complex monitoring solutions for all relevant systems.
    • Able to be on-call (2nd level engineer) for any production support issues and act in a prompt manner.


    • 3+ years' experience in internet fundamentals related to web servers, java application servers, internet security and other internet technologies.
    • BS Degree or equivalent combination of experience and formal education.
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of network and operating system principles.
    • While this is not a Java Development position, any Java experience is a plus.
    • Successful candidates will have had intermediate or greater experience supporting Java Applications running in JBoss, WebSphere, Tomcat or other Java Application Servers.
    • Proficiency with SQL a must. Candidates will perform SQL and Hadoop queries to gather information from back-end systems.
    • Basic knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash and Python. Candidates will create scripts to automate major repetitive tasks.
    • Able to work with batch job processing and multiple teams to troubleshoot and analyze and issue from end-to-end.
    • Configure monitoring and alerting based on application needs using tools such as Dynatrace and Nagios.
    • Utilize analytics tools such as Splunk to review metrics and identify and diagnose problems.
    • Experience with Chef, GIT, and/or Jenkins a plus.
    • Experience with configuring SSL/TLS certificates in Java Applications and troubleshooting cert-related issues.
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written with solid command of the English language.
