The Monitoring Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and leading resources that provide 24 x 7 x 365 coverage performing L1 & L2 caliber troubleshooting/triage of incidents, working trouble tickets, completing escalation management, providing monitoring support at the infrastructure, application & middleware layers, and reporting/resolving of incidents for our production environments.

 Responsibilities also include the identification and use of best practices, implementation of new processes and disciplines, and management of training activities for the staff. This position will ensure that incident, problem, change management, and risk management procedures and processes are applied and followed as required.  



  • Manages the integration, deployment, maintenance, upgrade, and monitoring of all internal applications and supporting infrastructures
  • Act as the 24x7 escalation point for production support to diagnose and resolve complex issues
  • Oversee and ensure the integrity of prod and non-production systems on a day-to-day basis to ensure uninterrupted services and that SLAs are met
  • Establish new technology patterns with key infrastructure technologies
  • Enable monitoring at all levels in the technology stack
  • Design solutions to minimize latency, drive efficiency and improve both reliability and performance
  • Develop automation strategies to reduce service interruption
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end users
  • Ensure monitoring alerts and systems events are assessed, prioritized, and managed
  • Drive the continuous improvement of services and processes in order to increase platform stability and realize operational efficiencies
  • Maintain effective relationships with core and extended team members, peers, senior stakeholders and business managers
  • Provide technical and procedural training, coaching and guidance to support teams
  • Exhibit a professional presentation when dealing with senior stakeholders, business managers, and end user teams
  • Demonstrates leadership and communication skills



  • At least 5 years of management experience
  • Technical proficiency in various monitoring tools in both the infrastructure and Application Performance Management (APM) space: Splunk, SCOM, Aternity, Keynote, ManagedEngine, Akamai
  • Experience with Windows Operating system management and administration
  • Experience with Unix/Linux Operating system management and administration
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies inc. AD, Exchange, Lync, SQL, SSRS, IIS, and clustering highly desirable
  • Database knowledge (SQL, Sybase, DB2,Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) desirable
  • Scripting experience desirable (e.g. Java, Python and PowerShell)
  • Ability to influence a cross functional team to obtain desired results
  • Ability to initiate new efforts through requirements gathering and drive the engineering teams to completion
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proven methodical approach to problem identification, problem solving and resolution
  • Results driven, ensuring short-term goals are achieved while supporting long-term initiatives with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Awareness of Service Delivery methodologies (ITIL)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience gained in the Financial sector highly desirable
